The Repair Affair program is an ongoing community service project designed to assist the elderly and permanently disabled with their accessibility needs, which in turn, allows them to stay in their home longer. Examples of previous projects include wheelchair ramp, hand rail, grab bar in bathroom, toilet raised, replace door knobs with handles and more. These repairs are done at no cost to the homeowner as the work is done by HBASE volunteers and the materials are donated through the Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation and Sioux Falls Community Development.
Some application guidelines include:
- Must own the home and reside in it (no mobile homes)
- Must be either 65 yrs. or older OR have a permanent disability
- Must meet certain income guidlines (see application for specifics)
- Must provide proof of household income
- All repairs must be accessibility related
