Repair Affair

Repair Affair Day - June 8, 2010

The Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation hosted the 17th annual HBASE Repair Affair Day on Tuesday, June 8. On this day, over 90 HBASE volunteers repaired and built accessibility related items on 15 different homes throughout Sioux Falls, Canistota, Dell Rapids and Montrose. Some of the projects included handrails, grabs and wheelchair ramps.

Thank you to all of the event sponsors, team leaders and volunteers!!

The Repair Affair is an ongoing community service project designed to assist the elderly and disabled with their accessibility needs, which in turn, allows them to stay in their home longer. There is no cost to the homeowner as the work is done by HBASE volunteers and the materials are donated through either the Care Foundation or the Sioux Falls Community Development. Application process begins in January and concludes in April. Applicants must meet certain income guidelines, own their home and meet other guidelines.

Thank you to the following for donating materials in 2010:

-  Sioux Falls Community Development
-  Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation
-  Realtors for Kids

-  Lowe's Home Improvement
