Care Foundation Gives Back to the Sioux Empire
SIOUX FALLS, SD --- The Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation was established in 2007 as a 501 (c) 3 charitable, non-profit organization. The Home Builders Care Foundation’s mission is to support the educational and charitable activities of the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire. The Care Foundation strives to support the community by contributing to community service projects focused on housing, as well as providing scholarships for students pursuing a career related to the building industry, and providing funding for other industry related educational programs.
The Care Foundation was formed to support HBA programs including: Tools for Schools, Repair Affair and Scholarships. The non-profit organization is dedicated to the future of the home building industry in Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook and Turner Counties.
The Care Foundation receives funds through donations and also from various public fundraisers including but not limited to the Showcase of Remodeled Homes, any Feature Homes on the Parade of Homes, HBASE Associate’s Product Show and Mall Golf.
Tools for Schools is a program sponsored by the Home Builders Care Foundation created to help local schools improve their building curriculum. The Tools for Schools program strictly donates tools necessary for students to learn hands on craftsmanship in the building industry.
The Repair Affair is a Home Builders Care Foundation sponsored one day event in June that allows HBASE members to volunteer their time and expertise to someone in need. Since 1993, more than 120 repair projects have been completed with a total of more than 3,500 man hours from more than 800 HBASE member volunteers. The focus of Repair Affair is on adapting the home for the elderly and/or disabled. Homeowners must complete an application, be at least 65 years old or permanently disabled and meet income guidelines.
Four $500 scholarships are awarded annually to graduating high school students. These annual scholarships were established to benefit high school graduates who will attend an accredited college, university or technical college and major in a construction-related field. Scholarship winners must reside within the counties of Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha or Turner and have applied for acceptance into a college or trade school curriculum within the home building industry or related fields. Scholarship applications can be located online at www.hbasiouxempire.com or by calling the HBASE office.
